“Fear is often created by trauma. That fear will live under your sight. It’s like the monster under your bed that everyone avoids.”

Watch Athena Ives talk about how she overcame trauma and fear to take back her life, tell her story, and help others combat their personal trauma on this week’s The David Johnson Show

Athena:  The title of my book is called “Thank You for Raping Me,” and that is probably the story of my life. I did not choose this, who wants to be known as the girl that got raped. I don’t at all. It has definitely been a journey. It is one where I have almost given up numerous times.

I joined the Marine Corps when I was around 25 with a lot later in life, but it was at a point where people are so afraid of failure. They’re afraid of so many different things, and they let that fear control them.

Fear is often created by trauma. That fear will live under your sight. It’s like the monster under your bed that everyone avoids.
